Summary
Model working steam locomotive and tender manufactured by British toy company Bassett-Lowke. The firm specialised in model railways, boats and ships, and construction sets. This model is built to a 1:24 scale.
The model is based on an original Pacific class steam locomotive and tender, with 4-6-2 wheel arrangement, known as 'Great Northern' (Engine No.4470), which hauled mainline express passenger trains operated by the London & Great Northern Railway (LNER), in Great Britain (England and Scotland). It was designed by Nigel Gresley (1876-1941), the LNER's chief engineer and one of Britain most famous locomotive designers. The locomotive had 3 high-pressure cylinders, each of 20 inches internal diameter.
Physical Description
Metal model locomotive and tender painted green and black. The model appears to have been built as a working 'steamable' model, capable of operating miniature railway rides.
