The DEV was a dull emitter replacement for the V24. The V24 was developed by Capt. H. J. Round for GEC in 1919. They were designed to have the smallest possible grid-plate capacitance. They were widely used in military and professional equipment in the 1920s. The V24 had a bright emitter filament but was replaced by a dull emitting equivalent, the DEV in 1923
The filament of the V24 required 0.75 A with a drop of approximately 5 V, whereas the DEV filament required only 3 V at 200 mA.

Physical Description

Cylindrical bulb with metal caps at each end. Smaller metal caps on each side at the end with the exhaust tip. One side cap is coloured green.
