Summary
Medium power beam tetrode originally released as a metal valve (12A6) in 1941, the glass version appeared in 1943. It appears to have been designed as an economical output amplifier for use in airborne communication equipment.

Unusual in that there is no direct 6.3 volt equivalent. (The 6A6 is a totally different type of valve.)
