The 7C7 is a sharp cut-off pentode designed for use in airborne and other receivers subject to shock and vibration. It has similar characteristics to the 6J7 but uses about half the heater current.
The Loctal base fitted to this valve has a detent on the locating spigot which prevents the valve from coming out of its socket when subjected to vibration such as that encountered in aircraft equipment.
The JAN/CHS prefix indicates that this valve was made for the United States military. VT-193 is the U.S. Army designator for this valve.
