Summary

6.3 volt indirectly heated cathode, manufactured by Philips, Hendon, South Australia, 1946-1960. Miniwatt was the brand used by Philips on their valves. In use since about 1924.

Remote cut-off pentode designed for use as an RF or IF amplifier in radio receivers. Octal version of the earlier 58 and 6D6 types.

The 6U7G was made in huge quantities during World War II (1939-1945) for use in military communications equipment and large quantities remained as military surplus after the war. Many Australian manufacturers made use of these military surplus valves well into the 1950s despite the fact that they were obsolete, having been replaced by equivalent miniature types at the end of the 1940s.
