Summary
Designed for use as a mixer and oscillator in television tuners. The triode section was used as the local oscillator and the pentode was used at the mixer.
The 4X inscription is the Philips code for type 6U8. The 4G inscription indicates July 1964 manufacture.
The paper label indicating that it is a 6CQ8 is incorrect, probably based on a visual comparison with a valve known to be a 6CQ8.The 6CQ8 is electrically similar to the 6U8 and looks exactly the same inside. If it really was a 6CQ8 the code would have been A8.
Manufacturer: Philips, Hendon South Australia.
