Summary
Small output pentode manufactured for the British RAF. Later became the CV1118. Has no direct commercial equivalents but is similar to the Mazda PEN220. The KT2 suggested by the sticker on the base is a beam tetrode whereas the VR118 is a pentode although otherwise the characteristics are somewhat similar.
2 volt directly heated cathode.
Before the introduction of the CV numbering system the British Services all had their own valve type numbering systems, The RAF used a VR prefix for 'Valve Receiving' and VT for 'Valve Transmitting'. The Army used AR and AT prefixes and the Navy used NR and NT. This confusing situation was resolved by the introduction of the Common Valve (CV) numbering system in 1941-42.
