Summary
The 6L6 was the first beam tetrode, released as a metal valve in 1936. The glass 6L6G followed a year later. The bulb size of this version remained in production until the 1950s when different smaller bulb versions 6L6GA and 6L6GB appeared. The final version was the 6L6GC which has higher voltage and dissipation ratings and is still in production in Eastern Europe and China.
A single 6L6G can produce more than 10 watts in class A.
