Summary

6.3 volt indirectly heated cathode, manufactured by Philips, Sydney, NSW, 1939-1946. The excise mark 2 over 4 indicates that this valve was made in Philips' Sydney (Camperdown) factory. Valve manufacture transferred to Hendon, South Australia in 1946.

Power output pentode with high transconductance. The high gain of this valve allowed it to be directly driven by the output of the detector of a radio and when used with a high gain valves in the other stages, a four valve receiver could be made with performance close to that of a five valve set.

Physical Description

Shouldered glass bulb on octal base with six pins present. Band of gold screening paint around base of bulb.
