Summary
Beam tetrode designed for use in radio transmitters requiring valves with a rapid warm-up. It has similar characteristics to type 807 but its directly heated cathode allows it to be used within a second or so of turning on the filament supply.
2.5 V directly heated cathode. Used as a Class AB1 amplifier. Manufactured by Ken-Rad, Owensboro, KY, USA.
The rapid warm-up time allowed the filaments to be turned off when the transmitter was not in use. This gave a substantial power saving in transmitters used in mobile communications that are transmitting for relatively short periods.
