Summary

6.3 volt indirectly heated cathode at 900 ma. anode max. dissipation 19 watts, manufactured by RCA, Harrison, NJ, USA, 1943. Beam tetrode used as an output valve in radios, amplifiers and modulators requiring relatively high power output. RCA developed the beam tetrode design for power output valves as an alternative to the pentode. The 6L6 was the first valve of this type to be released, in March 1936. The 6L6 type is still manufactured in China and Eastern Europe for the audiophile market.
