Vidicon for general use in closed circuit television (CCTV) and educational television cameras.
Vidicon tubes were the most economical camera tubes available before the advent of semiconductor imaging devices. They were widely used in hand-held television cameras and industrial applications. The image is focused on a photoconductive faceplate and is converted to an electrical signal by being scanned by an electron beam.

Tubular bulb with 8 pin base and image plate at other end. Exhaust tip in base. Getter has turned white indicating vacuum is lost.
