Summary
The 1D4 is a power output pentode with a 2 volt filament designed to be run from a single lead-acid cell or a pair of zinc-air batteries in series. It was a member of a family of valves that appear to have been unique to Australia. They were designed for farm radios that were operated from batteries in places without mains power. It has a 2 Volt directly heated cathode and was used as a class A power output amplifier.
