High-mu twin triode. Widely used in audio amplifiers and other applications in radio and television circuits. Also known as ECC83.
This valve was introduced in about 1953 and, as of 2010, is still being manufactured in Eastern Europe and China for the guitar amplifier and audiophile market. It is still very popular with enthusiasts for the 'valve sound'.
