Summary
Beam Tetrode primarily designed for transmitting purposes but also widely used in high powered audio amplifiers. It is essentially the same as the type 6L6G except that it has the plate brought out to a top cap to handle high peak voltages and a 5 pin UY style base. The internal structure is also better insulated. 6.3 V indirectly heated cathode.
These valves were very popular with radio amateurs (hams) in the post war years. They were used in huge quantities in military equipment during the war, resulting in them being available in large quantities from disposals sources afterwards. The ham's slang term for a bottle of beer was 'an 807' as in 'I think I'll crack an 807'.
