Gas filled regulators were widely used for voltage regulation prior to the advent of the Zener diode.
Manufactured for Standard Telephones and Cables Ltd. Radio Receiver Valve Division, Footscray, Sidcup, Kent, England. (The 'Foreign' inscription indicates that it was not made in England.)
