Pentode designed for use as a line-output (horizontal output) amplifier valve in television receivers. Also known as EL81.
Line-output valves drive the horizontal scanning coils of a television receiver. During the line scan period the valve must pass a relatively high current with a low voltage drop and during the flyback period it must withstand a high voltage while turned off.
