Herberton was established in 1880 as part of the Herbert River tin mining field (the richest tin mining field in Australia at the time). This Association probably preceeds the Herberton Mining Pastoral and Agricultural Association.
Physical Description
An unissued bronze prize medal (45 mm diameter) featuring a Classical female figure seated facing right on a box bearing an Australian shield and extending her left arm bearing a Victor's wreath together with the name of the society and space on the reverse within an olive wreath to engrave details of a prize.
