Significance
This was the second issue by New Brunswick, dated 1854 and unlike the first issue was authorised by passage through the correct channels in Britain. The word CURRENCY replaced TOKEN on the reverse. This indicated the official nature of the issue and referred to Halifax Currency, the then standard.
