Medal commemorating the Statue of Napoleon, France 1833.
Medal artist, Jean P. Montagny. Sculptor of statue Emile Seurre, commissioned by Louis Philippe I. The statue was orginally intended for the Vendome, but it ended up at Les Invalides from 1911.
Mint: not recorded.
Initially buried on St. Helena, the island where he died in exile in 1821, Napoleon's body was exhumed and brought back to France by King Louis-Philippe I in 1940. On 15 December 1840, Napoleon was given a state funeral and buried in the crypt of Saint-Louis des Invalides in Paris.

Round bronze medal. the obverse depicts a statue of Napoleon Bonaparte, inscription around, artist's name below. The reverse bears extensive text.
