Significance
The obverse of the coins states George IV is King of Great Britiain and Hannover. This was the last of the Anglo-Hannovarian kings, after his death he was succeeded in Britain by Queen Victoria. By law, the monarch of Hannover had to be male so succession there went to the next male in line, William's brother, who became Ernest Augustus I of Hannover.
