The Yass Pastoral and Agricultural Association was established in the nineteenth century. Like many agricultural socieites of its time, it would have aimed to improve agricultural productivity through improvements in faming practice and technology, and annual shows and farming competitions. An annual Yass Agricultural Show is still held in the early 21st century.
