After much heated discussion the titles F:D:, removed at the start of the new reign, were returned to the obverse legend on the Royal visit florin in 1954. They were also returned to the regular coinage from 1955.
Physical Description
A silver coin (28 mm diameter with milled edge) featuring on the obverse a laureate bust of Elizabeth II facing right; around, ELIZABETH II . DEI . GRATIA . REGINA . F:D: + The reverse features a lion and a kangaroo standing together on a curved ground line facing right, around above, AUSTRALIA FLORIN; below in exergue, 1954. The artist's initials WLB in the ground below the front foot of the lion.
