Copper One Penny Token, minted by Stokes & Martin, Melbourne. Issued by Holland & Butler, Auckland, circa 1874. Holland & Butler ran an oil color and glass store at 30 Victoria St. Auckland. Tokens were demonetised in New Zealand 25 March 1897.

Physical Description

A round copper token (34 mm diameter) featuring the name and business of the company that issued the tokens: Holland & Butler, 30 Victoria Street, Auckland, oil color and glass merchants. This token was struck after some damage had occurred to the obverse die causing the name BUTLER to look like BUILDER.
