Napoleon was exiled on St Helena, a British-held island in the South Atlantic Ocean, from 15 October 1815 until his death in 1821. His remains were originally buried in Ruperts Valley on St Helena, but were later transferred to a tomb in Les Invalides in Paris, France.

Round white metal medal.The obverse features a bare head of Napoleon facing right within a closed wreath; around within wreath, EMPEROR NAPOLEON; around outside wreath, DIED 5 MAY BURIED IN RUPERTS VALLEY ST. HELENA 9 MAY 1821. Makers' name below (worn). The reverse has 36 lines in English detailing the career of Napoleon.
