"On taking possession of Vienna, after the fatal surrender of Ulm, and the array of General Mack, and the signing of the treaty of peace at Presburg, Napoleon ordered a public thanksgiving to take place in the metropolitan church at Vienna, for the commemoration of which, the government of France ordered this medal to be struck."
