References
This is an interesting piece. W.J Taylor is well known for late strikes for collectors from combinations of old dies but in this case the obverse shows no sign of being worn or rusted. Its weight is correct for the original issue by the firm (not normal with re-strikes). Perhaps it represents a trial of the Larcombe & Company die to be approved by the London firm representing Larcombe for the token production.
