Copper One Penny Token, mint unknown. Issued by Joseph Brickhill, Draper & General Importer, Campbell Town, Tasmania, 1856. Joseph Brickhill was born in 1800. In 1836 he purchased a town allotment in Campbell Town and built a large retail store. In his store he kept a large Airedale hound, to scare would-be burglars. One night the dog turned on him and he never fully recovered from the injuries sustained, he died in 1865 aged 65. Brickhill was connected with many business ventures and was a devout Methodist.

Physical Description
A circular copper token (34 mm diameter) with the name, address and business of the issuer: Joseph Brickhill, Commercial House, Campbell Town, draper and general importer. The token has no pictorial element but also provides the denomination and date. This token is in uncirculated condition, lightly toned.
