Obverse Description
Bull reclining facing left; around, legend in Sanskrit characters.
Reverse Description
At centre within a bead circle, legend giving the denomination and in the third line the date in Vikram Samvat system, 1948; around, a closed floral wreath
Edge Description
The edge is plain.
Significance
The arms of Indore includes an image of Nandi, the bull sacred to Shiva in a pose like that on this coin. The coin was issued by Shivaji Rao one of the Holkar rulers of Indore by whom Shiva was specially adored.
