Significance
This coin was prepared at the Berlin Mint by the artist Otto Schultz (OS on the bust truncation). Unfortunately he depicted a double shafted wagon with wheels of equal size in the arms on the reverse, the correct form was single shafted with larger rear wheels. In addition his initials was the Africaans word for an Ox. The coins were quickly withdrawn from circulation as soon as the faults were recognised but many were retained by the public in the hope that they would become collectors rareties.
