At top, two winged Victories, one on each side of the fasces and together drawing the Cap of Liberty over the axe head which traditionally was attached there; each Victory carries a palm branch in the right hand; below in five lines, A LA MEMOIRE / DU GLORIEUX COMBAT / DU PEUPLE FRANCAIS / CONTRE LA TYRANNIE / AUX TUILLERIES; in exergue, LA COMMUNE / DE PARIS
