Summary

Silver Denarius struck during the reign of the Emperor Hadrian between 125 and 132 AD, Ancient Roman Empire. Minted by Rome. Hadrian was Consul for the third and final time (COS III on this coin) from 1 Jan 119, the production of this coin therefore belongs after that date. It is believed the mint was largely inactive when the emperor was away from Rome 121 to late 125 AD and when production began again this coin's obverse legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS was used with the simple reverse legend COS III. In about 132, P P was added to the reverse legend and in about 134 the COS III was moved to be part of the obverse legend and the reverse legend addressed the reverse image.
