Significance
This issue was originally authorised under Regulation VII, 29 April 1814 for circulation in the Province of Benares but circulation was extended between 1817 and 1836 to all of the Bengal Presidency. This issue, struck on smaller flans than the first, was introduced in 1821 and produced until 1827. It was demonetized in 1844.
