Significance
The mint at Murshidabad, named on this coin, closed on 1 May 1777. From the beginning of the issue of this design of mohur in 1769 until that time coins of this design were struck both there and at the Calcutta mint (both with the Murshidabad mint name). In 1790 this, hand struck form, was replaced by a machine struck issue.
