Significance
Jackson (1909) records this size of coin a 1/16th rupee. Krause states it is a 1/3 Pavali. The Pavali was a 1/4 rupee so the coin would be a 1/12 rupee. This piece weighs 0.88 g arguing that the Krause denomination is correct as the rupee should be about 11g (if the coin were 1/16th rupee the rupee would weigh 14g). Jackson records that the word 'Mayili' on the reverse may be connected to an old Kaunada word meaning 'token' although the weight seems full.
