Significance
Partly prepared blank from the Mint of the National Bank of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek. When the British occupied Pretoria in 1900 the Boers removed them from the mint as they departed and used them for payments, they were called "naked pounds". The British closed the mint after they took control.
