Significance
First issue of the 1 rupee denomination for Queen Elizabeth II, 1,000,000 working strikes were made. This is a Proof of Record strike supplied for the reference collection of the Nationale Gallery of Victoria through the Melbourne Branch of the Royal Mint. The only other denomination struck in 1956 was the 5 cents coin.
