Other Details: Medal issued by the City of Hawthorn in 1910 to commemorate the 60th jubilee of its establishment as a separate municipality, severed from the Boroondara Road District that included Kew and Camberwell. The medal names Cr D.H. Dureau JP as mayor. David Henry Dureau was Mayor of the City of Hawthorn from 1909 to 1910 and a councillor from 1906 to 1913. The Hawthorn township was surveyed in 1837 to 1843, and farm-size allotments were sold, which were subdivided in the following decades. Hawthorn became a city in 1890. On 22 June 1994 the Cities of Hawthorn, Kew and Camberwell were re-amalgamated to form Boroondara City Council.
