Summary
One of a pair of flintlock pocket pistols, pair, cal. 35 bore (approx. .510), screw off steel smoothbore cannon barrel, 6.30cm long. Made by John Twigg, London, 1760-1780.
Physical Description
Box lock steel action with sliding safety catch, foliate engraving. Frizzen spring mounted on barrel top. Oval steel triggerguard with engraved floral motif, silver escutcheon inlaid on back of grip engraved 'MH', cast silver grotesque butt cap. Wooden flat sided grips. Corresponding barrel and breech chambers numbered 1 and 2 on each pistol respectively.
