Summary
Wire mesh brush hair roller. One of a mixed collection of hair rollers, made circa 1950-1969. The rollers were used by the donor's mother, Mrs Everly (nee Ms Loughlin). After completing her apprenticeship, Ms Loughlin used the rollers in her hairdressing business in Yarraville and later in private practice at her home.
Ms Loughlin was apprenticed to the Bye & Bye Hairdressing & Wig- making Salon in the Royal Arcade, Bourke St. Melbourne. She started her own business at 130a Gamon St, Yarraville. After she closed the business she continued to work from home.
Physical Description
Whiskered roller, consisting of a sleeve of woven wire, inside which is a brush comprising a length of wire from which clear thin plastic hairs protrude, slightly extending beyond the sleeve.
