Part of a British uniform belonging to Sergeant George West who served in the 1/4th Battalion, Black Watch, 9th Royal Highland Division 1914-1918.

Uniform consists of a tunic, black watch buttons, shoulder titles, kilt, sporran, khaki apron, bonnet with red feather, two glengarry caps, crimson sash, leather waist belt, khaki spats, three pairs of hose (one khaki and two tartan), red tapes for hose, swagger stick with silver knob bearing badge of black watch.

Sergeant George West (1895-1979) enlisted in the British Army on 23 October 1914 and was discharged in January 1919. He served in the 14th Battalion Blackwatch, 9th Royal Highland Division, and was wounded in the Battle of Passchendale. He migrated to Australia in 1923.

Physical Description

Khaki woolen tunic. Two hip pockets with buttoned flaps. Two breast pockets with pleat and button flaps. Stand-up collar with two hooks and eyes at front. Five buttons and button holes down front. Epaulettes with 'R. H.' at the shoulder and buttons. Straight sleeves with crown badge below elbow. Brass hooks at waist level at back. Two vents at back.
