Significance
On the proposal of Charles Rogier, Minister of the Interior, Leopold I, founded a 'Commission whose task is to research and update previously unpublished Belgian chronicles.' It became known by the shorter title 'Royal Historical Commission'. It's members were to be appointed by the king. This medal was struck to commemorated its 25th Anniversary.
