Khaki woven woollen peaked cap. Australian Army uniform, 1914-1918, belonging to Lieutenant E. Gaynor, 23rd Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces. Uniform consists of jacket, breeches, putties and a field service cap.

Physical Description

Khaki woven woollen peaked cap. Narrow brown leather band across front attached with two brass buttons, brass metal badge with 'Australian Commonwealth Military Forces' pinned to front, two pairs of eyelets on either side. Legionnaires flap folded up and held in place with metal hook and cotton loop on either side. Fabric chin strap and buckle. Peak is fabric. Cap is lined with cotton fabric, quilted at crown. Inside hat band is cotton fabric.
