Peter Nicol Russell Medal 1899 (AD)
Mint: Wyon (London)
Other Details: The Peter Nicol Russell Medal was established by the University of Sydney in 1899 in recognition of (later Sir) Peter Nicol Russell, a Sydney ironfounder who made substantial donations to support the development of engineering in Australia. He gave £50,000 to the University of Sydney in 1895 for the Peter Nicol Russell School of Engineering and associated lectureships. This medal is awarded for postgraduate work. The portrait die was cut by Allan Wyon in London. Later versions of the medal have the University of Sydney arms on the reverse, instead of the wreath of Australian flora.
