Summary
Octagonal, electric hanging lamp with a painted black metal frame and clear glass pane inserts from the Royal Exhibition Building, removed during the building's restoration in the late 1980s - early 1990s.
Physical Description
Octagonal, hanging electric lamp, similar in style to a lantern. It has a painted black metal frame and clear glass pane inserts as well as a black metal hook and suspension chain attached to the top. The top and base of the lamp have six curved metal arms that meet at a central point. They are connected via black screws. The six glass insert panes have a bubble design. The lamp is enclosed at the top and contains a white plastic light fitting with a small glass globe. A black cord winds up through the suspension chain from the interior and then threads through the round metal top plate where red and black wiring cords are visible. A screw and bracing arm are also attached to the top plate. Sections of the black paint has scratched off exposing the brass-coloured metal beneath.
