'Vampire' vacuum cleaners were advertised in Australian newspapers from 1926 to 1929; after that date, they were advertised as part of auction lots and second-hand.
Physical Description
Round, polished metal vacuum cleaner body with black and white cloth covered electrical cord. Features metal wheels and a hinged metal handle that extends up from the top of the vacuum body. The triangular metal vacuum head connects to the front of the body and a brown, cylindrical, fabric dust-bag is attached to the side of the body with a metal clip. The dust-bag has lettering on its side and is attached at its opposite to a metal hook near the black Bakelite handle end. The electrical cord plugs into the top of the body and again at the top on the handle, opposite the power switch. Metal badge attached to top of vacuum body. Second badge with serial number attached to side of body. Red plastic adhesive tape binds a section of the electrical cord.
