This document was collected from the Melbourne Coastal Radio Station after it was closed in July 2002. In addition to communications equipment and documentation, items in general office use were collected in order to represent as far as possible the working environment at the time of closure.

The message reads: "This is the final transmission of Melbourne Radio. This is the end of a service that has operated continuously since the 8th of February, 1912 - when this station, Australia's oldest, was commissioned. We go off the air forever with deep sadness but with the satisfaction of having played a part in a service that has saved countless lives over the past ninety years. To all the men and women who have devoted their skill, sweat and dedication to this service, past and present, we salute you. Our final salute is reserved for Marconi, whose genius began this adventure. Farewell to you all. This is Melbourne Radio OUT" The item is stamped with a TELSTRA stamp, 1 July, 2002, and signed by Roger Boyden and dated 1/7/2003, which is wrong; it should be 1/7/2002.
