Summary
Short green brocade cape or similar garment. Its provenance is unknown, but it is likely to date from the 19th century. It is heavily worn.
Physical Description
Short green brocade garment with brown band on top opening and coarse hessian-like brown lining trimmed with brown silk. Twill trim on front opening and hem. Its wide top opening, without shaping to the shoulders or neckline, is unusual for a cape, but angled panels at each side suggest allowance for arm movement. Hand-sewn. Heavily stained overall, with substantial losses of warp in some sections, creating a shredded effect.
