Drug - Valuren, circa 1960. Made: J. McGloin, Pty. Ltd. Manufacturing Chemists. Valuren is the trade name; the active ingedients are Bromvaletone and Carbromal. Used at a mental health hospital pharmacy in Victoria, Australia. Valuren was prescribed as a sedative, a physiological effect of the bromide ion on which the drug is based. Also used to induce deep, restful sleep.
Physical Description
Drug is in white tablet-form, sealed into cellophane sheets, contained in a green and yellow cardboard box. There are six tablets per sheet. There are five sheets per box. The sheets are empty (see Conservation module record, Conditions 2 tab, 2014).
