Summary
Architectural model made in 1991 by Daryl Jackson Pty Ltd as part of a proposal for a new branch of the (then) Museum of Victoria at Southbank.
Although extensive planning and preliminary construction was undertaken the museum was never completed on the site. Instead, a new site was selected at Carlton Gardens, next to the Royal Exhibition Buildings, north of the central business district. The new Melbourne Museum was designed by Denton Corker Marshall and opened on 21 October 2000.
The initial stages of the Southbank building were later incorporated into the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
